Hello everyone and welcome to the Nexus of All Realities – a Man-Thing podcast. Today on the program I will be discussing Man-Thing #9: Deathwatch! This is part 1 of a two-part story that is basically just a straight-up ghost story. Albeit with a swamp monster and a man who talks like Gomer Pyle. Along the way get to see Man-Thing fight a haunted tree, a haunted alligator, and reanimated haunted skeletons. And c’mon how can you go wrong with that?
Also, I talk about the rise in popularity of possession movies in the 1970s specifically the most famous one – The Car from 1977. No, The Exorcist of course. And I give you my theory of why they became popular. It involves politics. So, you know, no one will get upset about that.
Also, this episode is a bit shorter because a second part will be released in just a couple of days. Hooray.
So join me as I dive in and over-analyze a weird, wacky, and often wonderful 70s swamp-based monster comic with a really, really funny title.
Also: the Nexus of All Realities is now part of The Collective a group of like-minded podcasters who wanted to network in the most traditional sense. It’s a great group and I’m proud to be a part of it.
And…keep it swampy (Still the worst tagline ever.)
